PAWS Volunteer Orientation on January 10, 2009, 10 AM

Posted by siyerwin on Monday, January 05, 2009 at 9:59 AM

Greetings, animal advocates! I'm finally back from another blogging break and I'd like to start off by wishing you guys a very Happy New Year! Hope you had a rockin' holiday season with all your fur babies and thanks to all those who remembered the shelter animals last Christmas. Your gifts of kindness are magical.

PAWS is starting 2009 in high spirits with a volunteer orientation on January 10, Saturday, 10 AM at the PAWS shelter (PARC) in Quezon City. If you're a fellow advocate who wants to help out, then all you need is to come on Saturday and tell us so in person and get more acquainted with the organization to learn more about what you can do as PAWS volunteer. PAWS is 100% made of volunteer stuff and it needs more!

Are you photography enthusiast who likes taking pictures of animals? Come join in as well!

Just print out the application form, fill it up and bring it with you to the orientation. Please do not send it by fax anymore (we're trying to save on office supplies). Also bring Php 200 for the ID and other orientation materials.

For further inquiries about the orientation, please email philpaws @ yahoo.com or post a comment here and I will try to reply asap.

Below is the official announcement from PAWS:

Dear friends,

Orientation for PAWS volunteer applicants will be on Saturday, January 10, 10 am at the PAWS Shelter in Aurora Boulevard, Katipunan Valley, Loyola Heights, QC (see map at http://parc. mefindhome. org)

Applicants for volunteers must be willing to share at least 8 hours per month of their time doing work for the animals ( i.e. shelter work, manning PAWS booths, dog training/socializat ion, visiting schools or hospitals; or work from home creating PAWS flyers, posters, adoption write-ups, writing campaign letters or doing clerical work for the PAWS office, etc)

Members of PAWS e-group or PAWS Multiply group are not considered PAWS volunteers unless they:
1. have signed and submitted the volunteer application form (including agreement to abide by PAWS policies and sign a waiver freeing PAWS from liabilities for any injury or illness sustained during the course of doing volunteer work)
2. have attended a Volunteer Orientation session
3. render a minimum of 8 hours a month doing volunteer work

Verification of names of people who claim to be "members of PAWS" can be done through email. Please email us at philpaws@yahoo. com or write to

Ms. Nita Hontiveros-Lichauco
President and CEO
The Philippine Animal Welfare Society (PAWS)

Please note that only active volunteers who render a minimum of eight (8) volunteer hours a month for six months will be issued PAWS official IDs (with one-year expiration dates, renewable every year).

Thank you.

Please do not leave your email or contact numbers in the comments. Email me directly at sherwin @ mefindhome.org if you have concerns or questions. This blog is increasingly attracting breeders/pet sellers trying to advertise their business through the comments and I don't want that. The blog seems to also be becoming a bulletin board of sorts for people who wish to abandon their pets. Blogger.com allows no way to edit your comments so there I have no other option but to delete comments that I deem inappropriate in this regard. I apologize for the inconvenience. Again, if you have any questions/concerns, better to email me at sherwin @ mefindhome.org than to comment here. Thank you very much!
