The P250 registration fee will go to the PAWS Animal Rehabilitation Center, a temporary shelter for more than 100 dogs & cats who were either abandoned or rescued from cruelty or neglect. The shelter staff & volunteers work hard to rehabilitate these animals with the ultimate goal of finding new loving homes for them so that they can get a second chance in life. The facility is solely dependent on donations and fund raising activities such as this to keep it running.

So celebrate Halloween with your pets and help make a difference in the lives of the animals in the PAWS Shelter.

SCAREDY CATS & DOGS : YEAR 5 is made possible through the generous support of Alpo, McDonald’s, Chuckie, Eastwood Cinemas, Frontline Plus, Sergeant’s, Toytown, Nestea, KitKat, Nescafe, Shopaholic Pooch.com and the Philippine Star Pet Life Section.

Our DLSU student volunteers will be handling the PAWS Adoption Booth, featuring 2 shelter dogs and 2 shelter kittens for adoption. The 2 shelter dogs will be Piolo (who is coming as a cowboy) and Jerby (dressed as a pirate).

Piolo was a neglected dog whose rescuer reported wasn't fed or watered for 8 months. He lived on scraps from kind neighbors and rainwater dripping from the roof of his cage. When he first came to the shelter, he was skin and bones (all spine and ribs), with bald patches on his coat (fungal infection). Now his body is twice its original size (thanks to his voracious appetite), and he has a beautiful shiny black coat. He is very sweet but naughty. A favorite among shelter volunteers, he is quite a character. There is no boring moment with him :). He is funny and just has this unflappable zest for life. He never fails to make volunteers or PARC visitors smile. He has appeared in some TV shows (Unang Hirit and Matanglawin) and a newspaper, in the hopes of getting him adopted, but sadly he still hasn't found his forever-family yet. If you're looking for a dog to love and spoil then Piolo is for you! Please come to our halloween event this Sunday and see Piolo as a cowboy :D

Jerby is an older dog who was abandoned by his family. He is the sweetest, clingiest dog you could ever meet. He's been at the shelter for about a year now, still waiting for his forever-family. When adopters come we always recommend him first and foremost, but he always gets passed over for the more attractive dogs (I blame the huge black callus on his left butt cheek! Heh.) He will attend the halloween event dressed as a pirate, hoping that some kind human will fall in love with him :D

We will have kittens too! Calling all good loving homes who are thinking of welcoming a kitten into their family.

Last month, 5 dogs were adopted (Sashi, Tweety, Missy, Ariel, and Hershey) - all to wonderful wonderful families we just fell in love with. 11 cats were adopted! :)

This month 5 dogs have already been adopted (Ollie, Quinn, John Lloyd, Ursula (now known as "Rachel"), and Jacob. Only 2 kitties have been adopted so far this month.

Thank you to all the wonderful families who came to our shelter and gave these animals a second chance in life! We love you.

Sherwin, see you and Ivy on Sunday? :) Also I think we agreed to visit the Marikina pound tomorrow :D

Please do not leave your email or contact numbers in the comments. Email me directly at sherwin @ mefindhome.org if you have concerns or questions. This blog is increasingly attracting breeders/pet sellers trying to advertise their business through the comments and I don't want that. The blog seems to also be becoming a bulletin board of sorts for people who wish to abandon their pets. Blogger.com allows no way to edit your comments so there I have no other option but to delete comments that I deem inappropriate in this regard. I apologize for the inconvenience. Again, if you have any questions/concerns, better to email me at sherwin @ mefindhome.org than to comment here. Thank you very much!
