Shelter Wishlist - May 2008

Posted by siyerwin on Friday, May 09, 2008 at 12:11 AM

The animal shelter of the Philippine Animal Welfare Society (PAWS) constantly needs donations to keep the place running for hundreds of dogs and cats. Here are the things that they currently need:

  • dry cat food
  • sisal rope (to make scratching posts for the kitties)
  • clean old towels or rags, or foot rugs, or anything we can use to line their plastic pans that the kitties use as "cat beds" (they all huddle & crowd in these "cat beds" at night )
  • for the doggies, nylon flat collars & leashes (even just the inexpensive ones)
  • feeding bottles for unweaned kittens
  • milk for unweaned kittens: COSI or AL 110 or any lactose-free infant milk
  • detergent powder
  • dishwashing paste or liquid (kitty & doggie bowls need constant cleaning too!)
  • ZONROX bleach or disinfectant
  • old newspapers
  • walis tingting
  • pails with lids/cover
  • working boots (for the caretakers size: 9 and 7)
  • "kusot" or woodshavings
  • printer ink for CANON iP 1300 PIXMA
Secondhand items:
  • rice cooker
  • electric fan
  • grass cutter
  • rechargeable lamps
If you wish to donate, you can go to the shelter in Katipunan. The map can be found at http://parc.mefindhome.org

Or, you can meet up with Grace and PAWS Volunteer Liza on May 16, Friday at Seattle's Best, Megamall. 630pm. Text 0917-5363224 or email cormier_fan@yahoo.com if you're coming.

Cash donations are also accepted via PAYPAL and via BANK DEPOSITS.

Thanks and see you at the shelter! :)

I would want to visit the shelter with my friends when we have the time. I am an animal lover but my mother doesn't want too many cats and dogs at home so I only have 1 stray cat and 1 dog.

I hope that the animals in the animal shelter would find their home and people who will love them unconditonally.

Hi siyerwin! It's me again.I would like to donate some of the things that PAWS need for the shelter, however,I'm also planning on taking my 5 kittens soon to PAWS and place them for adoption. They're now 1month 2wks old.I don't let my cats out of the house so they're always clean but we only have a very small apartment and I plan on getting pregnant this year, and i think it wouldn't be good for my health to have 7 cats inside the house while I'm pregnant,as much as I wanted to keep all them coz they're very cute.Actually,I'm trying to toilet train my other 2 grown cats (one of them is the MOM,who's mom we took care of but passed away last year;and the other one we rescued from the garbage dump.I'm also gonna take them to PAWS maybe next month to have them spayed) and see if it would work so I don't have to buy cat litters every 2weeks coz its very expensive.I really wish PAWS will take my 5 kittens and hopefully someone will adopt them.I can't find anyone who would want to adopt my kittens.I tried but they prefer puppies.

Please do not leave your email or contact numbers in the comments. Email me directly at sherwin @ mefindhome.org if you have concerns or questions. This blog is increasingly attracting breeders/pet sellers trying to advertise their business through the comments and I don't want that. The blog seems to also be becoming a bulletin board of sorts for people who wish to abandon their pets. Blogger.com allows no way to edit your comments so there I have no other option but to delete comments that I deem inappropriate in this regard. I apologize for the inconvenience. Again, if you have any questions/concerns, better to email me at sherwin @ mefindhome.org than to comment here. Thank you very much!
