Crowds at SM Mall of Asia, SM Clark and Canyon Woods were treated to the sight of dogs leaping through the air to catch Frisbees during the Manila, Pampanga and Batangas leg of the ALPO FRISBEE CHALLENGE.

Kicking off with human and dog cheerleaders as its opening number, the unique Frisbee competition had all the elements of a sporting event - a marshall, linesmen, an official tabulator, timer and commentators

Audiences cheered and groaned with contestants as human and dog teams tried to complete as many successful throws and catches within a span of two minutes.

Majority of the dog owner participants aimed to get bigger points in the shortest period of time by throwing the Frisbees at farther distances within the throwing area.

While the event showcased the best Frisbee-catching canines, it also had its light and funny moments from attempts by dog owners and their pets who had only had a few days’ “encounter” with the Frisbee prior to joining the competition. Prizes of P15,000, P10,000 and P5000 for the first, second, third placers and medals and trophies whetted every aspiring dog owner’s appetite to win in the elimination rounds.

Comic celebrity commentators Ariel and Maverick made sure that the whole proceedings stayed true to the spirit of a fun dog event amidst the intense competition.

The following emerged as the qualifying teams for each elimination round:

SM Mall of Asia –Manila Eliminations
Erick Kim – Julie (Labrador Retriever) – 29 points

Please do not leave your email or contact numbers in the comments. Email me directly at sherwin @ mefindhome.org if you have concerns or questions. This blog is increasingly attracting breeders/pet sellers trying to advertise their business through the comments and I don't want that. The blog seems to also be becoming a bulletin board of sorts for people who wish to abandon their pets. Blogger.com allows no way to edit your comments so there I have no other option but to delete comments that I deem inappropriate in this regard. I apologize for the inconvenience. Again, if you have any questions/concerns, better to email me at sherwin @ mefindhome.org than to comment here. Thank you very much!
