Jeff, the office cat

Posted by siyerwin on Saturday, June 03, 2006 at 7:54 PM

The first time I met Jeff, the office cat, in the office of PARC (PAWS Animal Rehabilitation Center), he gracefully leapt from the floor and landed right on my lap and promptly rubbed his head into my neck and chin, meowing conversationally. It was a really pleasant first encounter because I could recall no other such first meetings with any other feline character before that time. He stayed on my lap until he decided it was time to look for new, unchartered laps, as there were a lot of them in the PARC office that day. It was the day of my PAWS orientation.

I knew from that first meeting that Jeff, the office cat, was something of a unique character. And later on, when I learned how he's referred to as Jeff, the office cat, I immediately understood why. He's the best office receptionist I have met thus far.

When we took pictures of him he would always walk towards me as I stepped back to set up the picture. He did so even when we had put a bowl of cat food in front of him. He would always stop eating and amble on towards me, often rubbing against my legs or my hands upon reaching me.

Hence, I don't think I will go astray when I say that Jeff, the office cat, is quite ready for adoption. He's been ready for adoption way before I met him. He needs people. He would stop eating cat food just to be near them. He needs a new home that would understand him and give him the company that he constantly seeks and would listen to his cat-speak. He has lots of stories to tell. Sit with him for five minutes and you'll know what I mean.

Please help Jeff find home. Learn even more about him by calling (02)4751688. Ask for Jeff, the office cat. He's dying to speak to you.

Here's how you can help:

1. Forward this blog entry to your friends through email. You can do that easily by clicking on the envelope thingy at the end of this post, just adjacent to the commenting links.

2. Click on the images above and below and download them to your computers and forward them or show them to friends who might be thinking of having companion cats.

3. Personally speak about Jeff, the office cat, to your friends! Nothing beats the personal touch, of course. Tell them to visit the blogsite or to go to PARC (Tel. no.: (02)4751688) or get in touch with me through email: sherwin (underscore) castillo (at) yahoo (dot) co (dot) uk

Here are some candid images of Jeff and another cat named 123, who is another fella up for adoption (more on him in future updates), during Jeff's photoshoot.

Some tender moments between two kindred souls.

Some more tender moments one second before they got into a short bout of tender cat-boxing, images of which were not captured, as they happened at cat speed. They parted ways, still friends.

Here's my favorite image of Jeff, the office cat. The kind soul who adopts Jeff will get a blown-up print of this image as token of gratitude from the animals of PAWS.

i've met the feline jeff. i think he was the very first one who welcomed me when i first visited PAWS. he's very sweet and attentive. You take good pictures - they are full of feelings - i do hope that by these powerful shots we can find more guardians to PAWS pets.

This is a great idea! I hope you keep it up. I admire your writing skill and your photography as well!

Jeff does sound very adoptable. I wish I could take him. But my mom would never let me. :( But I hope he and the other critters at PAWS find good homes soon. And I'll be keeping tabs on this blog for sure. :)

    sherwin,
your write-up on Jeff is amazing! it's almost as if he spoke through you..
we shall now have to refer to you as the "cat-whisperer". =)

with you on the PAWS A-TEAM, how can we not be confident that adoption rates will be higher for the shelter this year?

Please do not leave your email or contact numbers in the comments. Email me directly at sherwin @ mefindhome.org if you have concerns or questions. This blog is increasingly attracting breeders/pet sellers trying to advertise their business through the comments and I don't want that. The blog seems to also be becoming a bulletin board of sorts for people who wish to abandon their pets. Blogger.com allows no way to edit your comments so there I have no other option but to delete comments that I deem inappropriate in this regard. I apologize for the inconvenience. Again, if you have any questions/concerns, better to email me at sherwin @ mefindhome.org than to comment here. Thank you very much!
