Hello. My name is Sherwin and I am a volunteer for the Philippine Animal Welfare Society (PAWS). For the past half-dozen weeks or so, I have dedicated a portion of my saturday afternoons into trying to assist the organization and its volunteers in caring for the rescued animals at their animal shelter, referred to as the PAWS Animal Rehabilitation Center (PARC), located in Katipunan, Quezon City.

The shelter is overpopulated by rescued animals. I am a first-hand witness to the misery of these beautiful creatures, who are basically victims of people's ignorance. Let's admit it, most of us simply do not know much about responsible animal ownership/guardianship. And some are even downright cruel. That, however, is a matter that this blog is probably not going to dwell much in. In fact, Me.Find.Home is here simply to look for those select human beings who know and understand these poor animals and are willing to adopt them. This website is an experiment that will utilize the wide readership possibilities of photo-blogging, a fusion of my favorite hobbies and my strong affinity and love for animals, to try and support the adoption programs of PAWS.

The need to find homes for these beautiful animals is desperate. More are being abandoned than are being adopted. I implore every animal-loving individuals out there to help out by adopting or by referring people, who may be able to adopt, to this site. Me.Find.Home will provide portrait images of the animals that are up for adoption. If possible, it will also provide some information on the animals' personality and temperament. I'm hoping the pictures will get some of that infomation through. But please understand that I can only take pictures of these animals once every week. There are too many of them (some do not even have names yet). If you find the animals presented here to be unsuitable to your particular home setting for any reason whatsoever, please come visit the shelter anyway. I'm 100% sure that, with a little patience, you'll find one that's perfect for you and your home.

If you're thinking of getting an animal companion and are considering buying one from the malls, I urge you to get one from PARC instead. That way you'll be able to help out in a worthwhile cause while at the same time save a lot of your hard-earned money. These animals deserve a better chance at life!

To know more about the adoption process, please go to the PAWS website or give the shelter a call at (02)4751688. You can also get in touch with me through email: sherwin (underscore) castillo (at) yahoo (dot) co (dot) uk

The gorgeous cat pictured above is jeff the shelter cat, getting ready to spring at a playmate. He's one of the friendliest cat I've ever met. Go ask a volunteer and I'm sure they would know this fella.

The image used in the header is that of an abandoned cat kept in a cage to prevent him from running away and isolate him from the other sick cats. What do you reckon was he thinking about?

The pup is called Nicole. Playful as any other pup but quite gentle around people. Sadly, the family who promised to come bring her home hasn't returned to pick her up. It's been two weeks as of this posting. She waits still...

PS. All images in this blog are protected by copyright laws everywhere. Please do not use commercially without permission. If you're a fellow advocate and you need the images for animal welfare-related activities (e.g., show and tell to potential adopters), by all means go use the images as you see fit. I will really appreciate being informed of such activities though. Salamat ng marami.
